The mission of INHOPE is to facilitate and co-ordinate the work of internet hotlines in responding to illegal use and content on the Internet. Several Save the Children organisations work with INHOPE to provide channels for reporting material you have seen on the internet which you consider to be potentially illegal child abusive content.

Save the Children recommends the following three main strategies in the fight against Internet-related sexual abuse of children:

  • Facilitate international multi agency co-operation to combat the problem of child sexual exploitation on the Internet at international, national and local levels.
  • Improve international law and national child protection systems with respect to the complex multijurisdictional nature of Internet crime and abuse against children.
  • Challenge societal denial, minimisation and myths about the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

Goals of INHOPE:

  • To establish and resource of effective national hotlines.
  • To train and support new hotlines
  • To foster ongoing Internet safety awareness and education throughout Europe
  • The establishment of effective common procedures for receiving and processing reports
