WHAT IS HAPPENING TO CHILDREN IN LEBANON

Children in Lebanon are being killed, injured and uprooted from their homes. 100 children have already lost their lives, half of them in the last week.

“Our worst nightmare is now becoming a reality. Children in Lebanon have felt crushing anxiety of a looming war since last October, and in the last few days their lives have been turned upside down, with densely populated neighbourhoods bombed. Monday was the deadliest day since last October,” said Jennifer Moorehead, Save the Children Lebanon Country Director.

500,000 people, including 175,000 children have already been forced to flee.

Any further escalation of hostilities will mean an unacceptable loss of human life. As always, children will bear the brunt of conflict.

PLEASE DONATE NOW TO CHILDREN IN LEBANON, GAZA AND AROUND THE WORLD, WHERE THE NEEDS ARE THE BIGGEST AND MOST URGENT.

Schools across the country have closed, affecting 1.5 million children.

345,000 children near the southern border of Lebanon are at risk of being impacted by the increasing violence and are now desperately trying to flee with their families to find safety.

"Thinking of a home and what is has become, makes my cry. Sometimes I worry I won't be able to remember what it looked like." Samer, 13 years old. Southern Lebanon.

Please donate now to the Children's Emergency Fund and help us deliver life-saving aid to the children and families affected by conflict in Lebanon, Gaza and across the world.

WHAT ARE WE DOING IN LEBANON TO SUPPORT CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES?

We have been working in Lebanon since 1953.  Since October 2023, we have supported 60,000 people, including 25,000 children, who have been displaced by the escalation of violence. This includes displaced Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian children and families.

We are ready to scale up our response to the escalating crisis, but we need your support. With additional funds, we plan to:

1. Distribute essential relief items, including water, toiletries, blankets, and food parcels. Provide cash for essentials and play materials for children.

2. Upgrade shelters and improve water and sanitation facilities.

3. Set up Child Protection Help Desks and run awareness sessions.

4. Offer emergency education and child protection activities for children affected by school closures.

5. Reunite children separated from their caregivers through family tracing services.

6. Provide psychological first aid and train local responders in mental health support.

As violence escalates in the region, the need for support has never been more urgent. The ongoing crisis is threatening the lives of countless children and families in Lebanon, Gaza and across the region leaving them in desperate need of assistance.

Please donate today to the Children’s Emergency Fund to help us respond to this escalating crisis and protect the most vulnerable children in Lebanon, Gaza and living in conflict around the world.
