CHILDREN STILL NEED YOUR HELP
Southern Türkiye and northern Syria have been left devastated by multiple earthquakes that hit in February. The largest had a magnitude of 7.7. The death toll has passed 56,000, and millions have been left homeless. Over 6 million children have been impacted and the earthquakes have turned children’s lives upside down overnight.
6 months since the earthquake, temperatures are on the rise. The summer months come with yet another set of challenges with increased risks of water and food borne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, skin infections, and rising hunger. Children’s health is at risk, particularly with the rise of summer temperatures. Many are residing in overcrowded camps or shelters remain without access to safe drinking water, toilets, or washing facilities.
Moreover, additional financial commitments are required in order to reach the millions of children who are displaced to avoid secondary crises such as hunger and disease.
YOUR$120 COULD GIVEA DISPLACED FAMILY OF EIGHT ENOUGH FOOD TO LAST THEM FOR A MONTH.
Six months post-earthquake, international support must continue. Please donate today and save lives.
WHAT WE DO IS THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT
Our teams in Syria and Türkiye are working directly and with partners to ensure children are getting the crucial support they need immediately.
We're delivering temporary shelters, blankets, clothing, toiletries and other items to keep families warm and healthy. We’re providing cash to families so they can buy food and other basics. We’re also working with local authorities to help reunite unaccompanied children with their families or give them alternative care arrangements if needed. We’ve set up safe spaces for children to play and learn, and we're providing psychosocial support to help them recover and come to terms with the terrifying experiences they've been through. We’re now also in a race against time to protect children and their families from facing a secondary humanitarian disaster, as a result of rising hunger, disease outbreaks and a total collapse of public services.
In Türkiye, we’re supporting children and their families in some of the worst affected provinces, such as Hatay and Gaziantep. We are distributing the essentials to support families, including food, water, tents, blankets, mattresses, diapers, sanitary products, heaters, firewood and warm clothing. We are also providing cash so families can buy the essentials that meet their unique needs. We’re working with local partners to rehabilitate damaged schools and distributed learning and teaching materials.
In Syria, we are providing cash, blankets, tents and warm clothing, safe drinking water, and essential hygiene and sanitation items. We’ve set up Child-Friendly Spaces and we’re delivering psychosocial support to help children recover and come to terms with their terrifying experiences. We’re also working with partners to set up temporary learning spaces. We’re providing primary and sexual and reproductive healthcare through mobile clinics and screening young children and mothers for malnutrition.
Thanks to your generous support, we have reached over 580,000 people. However, our work is far from over. Together, we will continue to strive for positive change and reach even more people in need. Please donate now and be part of it.
