The highest levels of displacement on record

A crisis hits and you have just a matter of minutes to flee your home – perhaps forever. What would you save? You might stuff some clothes in a bag. Grab your phone. Documents. But what about what you can’t take? Enough food or clean water, medical care, a place to sleep.

"It was during a flood," recalled Tisha* from Bangladesh, sharing her harrowing story. "The water seeped into our room, leaving no corner dry. With roads submerged and no access to medical help, terrified for my child, I rushed to a neighbor’s house, where my daughter Tithi* was born."

Around the world, 122 million people—half of them children—have been forced from their homes by war and climate-related disasters. But whether we are dealing with devastating conflict in Gaza or Ukraine, or floods in Bangladesh, this is where Save the Children steps in.

Your $100 gift could fight hunger, provide lifesaving medicine, or supply emergency kits

Working with you, we can get children what they need, even as they flee. You can help us provide life-saving food parcels and bottles of clean water. Blankets, mattresses, and shelter materials to protect children from the elements. Trained medical professionals, at a child’s side.

As a team, we can provide what families can’t save – helping them get back on their feet and face what lies ahead. Your donation can help deliver life-saving support to children in desperate need, where the needs are the biggest and most urgent.

TISHA'S STORY:

Tisha hoped to give birth to her first child in her own home in Bangladesh, but extreme weather forced her to flee. Now expecting her second child, Tisha faces the possibility of more severe weather, but this time, she’s not alone. Save the Children’s midwives will be there to provide medical support, check-ups, and advice before, during, and after birth. "Our midwife checks everything - blood pressure, weight, and provides us with medicines", Tisha says.

Tisha now has a birthing plan in place: "As soon as I get contractions, I'll go to the hospital. The midwives will provide good help." Thanks to Save the Children, Tisha feels confident she’ll get the care she needs, no matter what. "If we ever face such hardships again, we need not be afraid. Now, we get proper treatment and facilities. The midwives will fetch us immediately from home if we call them."

We support millions of families and children like Tisha and Tithi worldwide when an emergency strikes. But we need your help to continue to be there. Donate now.

HOW YOUR DONATION CAN HELP

In 2023, we helped around 19 million children caught up in crisis get the vital supplies they need to survive and the things you can’t take with you when you flee: security, education, shelter, health, protection. We’re there before, during, and after a crisis. We help communities prepare for the next disaster – because it’s not a matter of if, but when. We’re there when disaster strikes, to provide the urgent supplies families need to survive. And we provide what people can’t save – what children need to recover and rebuild their futures. To continue our work and reach even more children in need, we need your help:

Your $80 gift could buy eight weeks supply of high-nutrient peanut paste to help treat a child with severe acute malnutrition

Your $100 gift could fight hunger, provide lifesaving medicine, or supply emergency kits

Your $120 gift could provide 50 birth kits for midwives
