Food Security & Livelihoods
Save the Children integrates a resilience-based approach to address immediate needs during emergencies while fostering long-term sustainable development to combat child poverty. As a leader in cash and voucher programming in Somalia, we enable families to meet their essential food and non-food needs, complemented by child-sensitive initiatives that enhance food security, nutrition, and protection for children.
We support the scale-up of Social Safety Nets and Social Protection systems to create sustainable solutions for vulnerable communities. Our work includes distributing livestock fodder, seeds, and tools, training in livestock healthcare and natural resource management, and funding community-led disaster risk reduction initiatives.
Youth
For youth, we focus on fostering economic independence and resilience by providing Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET) and Income Generating Activities (IGA). These programs equip young people and women from marginalized communities with valuable skills, mentorship, and start-up grants to enhance their employment opportunities and contribute to the economic stability of their communities.
