Hassan is like any 4 year old child. He’s cheeky, kind and loves to play and eat ice cream! He lives in Minya Egypt with his brother Mohammad, 7, his baby sister Hoor and his parents. Every day, Hassan goes to a ECCD centre supported by Save the Children in Minya where he learns the alphabet, numbers and plays with his friends. His mum - Iman - loves to see her children thrive and grow. She’s been part of Save the Children’s Positive Parenting sessions where she learned how to better communicate with her children and manage their behaviour. Before she used to get irritated when her boys behaved badly, but now she’s knows how to stay calm. The family are closer than ever, as Iman helps Hassan and Mohammed to continue learning at home with arts and crafts, and they confide in her when they get home from school. Iman also attended Breastfeeding Awareness and Health sessions run by Save the Children where she learned breastfeeding techniques and how to wean her children as well as other health and hygiene advice. ’It changed my whole life,’ she explains. Now with her 6 month old, Hoor, she has put everything into practice and has seen how healthy she is compared to her other children at the same age. Iman has taken everything she’s learned and teaching other people in her community how to communicate positively with their children and how to give their children the best start in life.
