Mozambique Takes Another Step Towards Eliminating Child Marriages with a Learning Event Under the Theme “Empowering Girls to Combat Child Marriages”
Under the leadership of the Government of Mozambique, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Action, and in collaboration with SCI, UNICEF, FDC, World Vision Mozambique, and CECAP, this event, held on the 2nd and 3rd of December, brought together partners, specialists from various fields, and young people committed to the cause to:
- Reflect on achievements and significant progress.
- Discuss challenges and solutions in combating child marriages.
- Share best practices and inspiring stories from communities driving positive change that could potentially be replicated.
- Align partners to strengthen joint actions and ensure real and sustainable impact.
A key highlight of the event was the development of an accelerated action plan, with clear goals and evidence-based strategies on what works and what doesn’t, to intensify efforts against child marriages.
With the combined efforts and commitment of all involved, there is a clear vision to drive structural and behavioural changes, ensuring that girls can grow up free, safe, and with access to their rights.
Save the Children reaffirmed its commitment to leading efforts to eradicate child marriages in Mozambique, ensuring that girls are safe, can attend school, and continue to dream.
