What we do
At Save the Children Türkiye, we believe every child deserves a bright future. Since 2013, we have worked in Istanbul and Hatay to address the ongoing needs of children affected by the Syrian crisis. Our programs include provision of child protection assistance, early childhood education, psychosocial support, and livelihood support.
Following the devastating earthquakes of 2023, we expanded our efforts to reach to the hardest-hit provinces, including Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Hatay, and Gaziantep.
During the emergency response, we delivered lifesaving supplies, rehabilitated schools, provided cash assistance and livelihoods training, and established safe spaces where children could play, learn, and heal. Through these efforts in the last two years, we supported 585,662 individuals, including 285,223 children.
Additionally, Türkiye remains home to over 4 million refugees, 1.7 million of whom lived in earthquake-affected areas and continue to face heightened vulnerabilities. Our ongoing programs are focused on supporting recovery, strengthening resilience, and ensuring that every child survive, learn, and be protected.

We focus enhancing access to quality education, supporting teachers, and fostering children’s meaningful participation toamplify the voices of children in every step. Education
We help children in Türkiye access quality education by supporting and rehabilitating schools, distributing essential education materials, providing educational programs that enhance academic and social emotional learning skills, training teachers and promoting their wellbeing, and creating safe, inclusive spaces where every child can learn and thrive.
Child Protection and Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
We ensure all children feel safe and protected. We strengthen children's resilience and coping skills through psychosocial support, deliver targeted case management for at-risk children, raise community awareness and promote social cohesion among boys and girls, children with and without disabilities, and those from both refugee and host communities.
Cash and Voucher Assistance
We use cash and voucher assistance as a modality across our programs, to provide people we support the flexibility to prioritize what matters most to them, while also supporting local economies.
Livelihoods
We help families rebuild their lives, and futures. We address child poverty and access to livelihoods opportunities, through trainings and counselling, business scale-up programs, assistance to enterprises and cooperatives and promotion of innovative agriculture.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene - (WASH)
We improve families' and communities' access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene in emergencies by providing water supply, building and rehabilitating sanitation facilities, distributing hygiene kits, and promoting essential hygiene practices.
Shelter / NFIs
We provide emergency shelter solutions, distribute essential non-food items, including household supplies and winterization support, while also assisting with home repairs, transitional housing and infrastructure improvement to ensure safe and dignified living conditions for people affected by disasters and conflict.
